Ailm Means…

Ailm is the Celtic symbol derived from the letter “A”. Ailm represents strength, endurance, resilience, healing, protection, purification, guidance, fertility, pure energy, clarity, good health, integrity and objectivity… all qualities that are so important during birth and throughout motherhood.

The making of Ailm Birth Support

After graduating high school, I attended Salisbury University for bachelors’ of education and liberal art and went on to pursued a masters from John Hopkins. While I originally intended my life path to be days full of IEP’s, teaching and little minds and hands, plans changed after I personally experienced a traumatic birth and many losses to follow. As I entered the adoption world my heart pulled even more.

After seeing & experiencing the care model that women expect to encounter during their pregnancy experiences, I decided things needed to change for the better. The first step was to change career paths and devote my life to fighting for birthing person’s rights during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as a birth doula.

The trauma of my experiences, while unfortunate, lit a fire in my heart for supporting and empowering birthing people. I feel very passionately that every birthing person deserves to be supported regardless of how they choose to experience birth. It gives me profound joy that I have the opportunity to be welcomed into such an intimate and life-changing event in others’ lives in order to provide support.
There is nothing quite like the exhilaration of a new life entering the world

  • My Family & I Go On Adventures.

When I was younger, I spent my summers exploring different parts of the country, Europe, Canada and Mexico. In nature is like a second home to me, especially if a body of water is near by. I have had the opportunity to hike, scale the sides of mountains, kayak, jump from water falls and find so many exciting adventures.

Now I get to spend my days in nature with my family! Watching my babies go from hiking along with me in their baby carrier to trekking up trails all by themselves has been such a heartwarming experience. I love getting a front row seat as they see new sights, experience new things and find their own adventures.

  • Lost In A Good Book

My adventurous heart doesn’t go far, even when I am home. You can often find me curled up with a book. Though you can only live one life, you can live as many as you want through characters in a book, you can see the world and have experience you can only dream of - getting lost in a good book fills me up and the literature major still gets giddy with excitement cracking open the spin of a new book.

"During labor, Kelsey provided a calming supportive presence that allowed me to labor at home as long as possible, and helped my husband be more actively involved in supporting me" ~
